Attention Girls Interested in Engineering

The Philadelphia Section of the Society of Women Engineers and Widener University are co-sponsoring a one-day Engineering Mini-Camp for girls in grades 9-12. The camp, to be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 on Widener University's Chester campus, will bring girls who have an interest and/or ability in science/math/technology together with practicing women engineers and female engineering students. The camp is offered free of cost. Enrollment is limited to a maximum of 150 girls, on a first-come basis.

12th Annual Girls Exploring Tomorrow's Technology (GETT)
March 24 is GETT 2012

Registration opens February 14th, 2012!
Statistics continue to show that girls are not embracing careers in technology, despite an increasing need for skilled professionals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) fields in Pennsylvania and the nation. GETT is a free, fun, informational event for Delaware Valley middle and high school girls in grades 6 through 12 and their parents that features successful women in technology. Attendees learn the facts about how technology careers can be fulfilling, fun and rewarding personally, professionally and financially.

New Dual Enrollment Course Offered for the Spring Semester

Dear Parents/Students,

On January 17 our new dual enrollment sociology course, taught through Immaculata University, will begin at UHS. The Principles of Sociology (202) course will be taught on Tuesday/Thursday by an Immaculata University professor, Dr, Hirko. Enrollment in this course is completely voluntary and requires a tuition payment to Immaculata University for which you will be billed directly by Immaculata. The course will be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:15 am to 8:35 am. Students are responsible for their own transportation but may receive a limited parking pass from the Main Office to enable their early arrival.

Students are responsible for acquiring their own texts, which are available at Immaculata’s bookstore, or online through various vendors. Students should have their text on the first day of class. The text is: Society in Focus An Introduction to Sociology, 7th Edition, William E. Thompson and Joseph V. Hickey (link to Amazon if you’d like to order the textbook online through that company is:

If you would like to enroll in this new dual enrollment course offering, you must see you guidance counselor no later than Friday, December 16th. Unfortunately, students who are already enrolled in a full year UHS course during 1st period may not make a schedule change into this course.
